Happy New Year! Christmas break was great, lots of time with the kiddos and some time to unplug, relax, and get the winter tree work caught up. Surprisingly, I managed to “finish” it. I wired a zelkova and a beech, made some big decisions on a black pine, selecting a new front and removing the troubling apex, and pruned back the maple, hornbeam, and probably something else.

Lots of repotting is on the spring docket, and it is always exciting to look at the trees back on the benches in fresh soil, new pots and ready to pop for spring. This also means opportunities for new photos.

Be sure to check out the “Projects” link to see step-by-step development of the zelkova and beech, all new articles that go back to 2006 and 2004. I’ll be updating the black pine presentation after repotting as well.

Stay warm!
